As farm safety week continues we would like to remind all our Utility Vehicle drivers to "Buckle Up".
Utility Vehicle certainly make you feel a lot safer, sitting inside a roll cage but it is a rare sight to see our customers wearing the seat belt that all these machine are fitted with.
If we think about it rationally if you were to stop in a hurry, or even worse have an accident, without wearing a seat belt the chances for injury are extremely high.
Manufacturers of these machine are very aware of the safety implications and most have a throttle restrictor if the seat belt in not fastened, which is a great idea, unless of course you fasten the seat belt behind you as many people do.
IT'S SIMPLE.
THE SEAT BELT IS FITTED TO PROTECT YOU, not hinder you.
Yes it shall take you 5 seconds more to get in and out of the machine, but are you really in that big a hurry, and if you are perhaps counting to 10 is a good idea anyway.
We always recommend wearing a helmet whilst driving these machines, hence why we've included them in our "Don't Forget Your Helmet" initiative, I can assure you if you hit your head off a roll bar or windscreen whilst driving over bumps it certainly does hurt so its a great idea to protect your most valuable asset!
